Volt
Volt is well-known for placing software testers and software design
engineers in test. Microsoft relies on Volt as their primarily supplier
for contingent staffing solutions in test. Volt can be a very useful
ally if you're looking for a software testing job. I've personally worked
with them both as a job-seeker and as a manager trying to fill contingent
staffing positions. However, you really need to make sure your best
interests are being met when working with this company. Volt is a very
high-volume agency and they don't always take the time to understand your
career objectives and development needs before putting you into
interviews. The positive side to that is that you can get lots of
interviews if you live in an area where they make a lot of placements; the
negative side is that you may occasionally find yourself in an interview
for a job that is way over your head. It really pays to follow the
resume guidelines on this site when working with
this company; if you rely too heavily on keywords and a laundry list,
you're quite likely to find yourself in an inappropriate job interview. Volt
can help you get your foot in the door when you don't have a lot of
work-related experience in software testing, and they can be even more
useful when you have more work experience. If you have some strong
technical skills and you have demonstrable problem-solving and reasoning
capabilities, you have a reasonable chance of finding an opportunity with
Volt's help. |
