What's Happening in 1996?

The New Year promises to be an exciting and productive one! Here are the upcomping events of 1996:

• Diversity Makes a Difference Banquet
  May 10, 6:00 pm, Four Seas Restaurant
  The Foundation started the "Diversity Makes a Difference" Banquet in 1994. This year, we will acknowledge high school students who have had a positive impact in bringing different ethnic communities together and who have dedicated themselves to promoting diversity.

• Young People's Art & Essay Contest
  May 1996, to be published in the Northwest Asian Weekly.
  Both contests are open to Washington State students 10-17 years of age. The topic for both contests is "What My Ethnic Heritage Means to Me."

  Deadline for all submissions is April 2nd. For more information, please call Michael Park at (206) 587-2456.

• Get an EducASIAN
  Summer youth program
  July 8-19 or July 22-August 2
  Asian Resource Center
  This program is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Students should have their own transportation to and from the International District or be able to get a ride from somebody.

  The sessions run Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided every day.

• Coming Together
  Summer youth program
  August 19-30
  Asian Resource Center
  This is a new program being offered this summer open to all high school juniors and seniors. The goals are
  • To find common ground among all people
  • To build communication skills
  • To celebrate the contributions of all Americans to our common heritage.

  Students should have their own transportation to and from the International District or be able to get a ride from somebody.

  The sessions run Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided every day.
