Reading RoomThe Origins of the UniverseIn the beginning, the cosmic egg hatched, releasing all that is within the world--the sun, the stars, the planets, the void between them. But for the cosmic egg to have existed, there must first have been something to have laid the egg. Thus is the nature and existence of the Duck realized. And the Duck laid the egg, and yet the Duck was one with the egg. And as the egg proceedeth from the Duck, so do Ducks proceed from eggs. So is the great cycle continued. The question is asked, "Which came first? The Duck or the Egg?" The question is meaningless. Both are eternal, as there are always eggs, and always Ducks. The Egg is the unrealized potential Duck, and the Duck an unrealized potential Egg. The Duck that can be named, does not care what you name it. Contributed by Roy W. Pine
